Summary:
The Ventura Water Company is holding a contest for short films. What's different about it though, is that they are films based on the the global water issue. It is said that the world is facing a water shortage and that not many people know about it. This Contest is to help raise awareness to the public and also show off the talents of many short film makers. To submit a piece participants would need to go to www.watertake1.com. There is no entry fee so this is available to anyone to participate in.
Reaction:
I think this is a wonderful idea. I didn't even know that our water supply was at risk of a shortage. This film contest seems fun and interesting which would attract many people to participate. I feel that it could help because it would bring the attention to more people out there. Also, it's great to see people get involved with helping the environment and actually care about our future.
Questions:
~If you were given the opportunity would you enter the contest? what would you talk about in your five minute film?
~Do you think this will help make a difference with the water shortage? why or why not?
~What would be another creative way to spread the awareness?
Opinion
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a great idea! More people need to know about the global water shortage and how we can stop it. This is a creative way to spread the world and gets people interested. In the article, the author states that the videos are 5 minutes long and can be any genre. (drama, comedy, etc.) This is also a great idea because I am not sure if I would want to sit through a whole movie about Earth's water shortage. This way, the public can see a video that gets a point across but is still enjoyable. Also, many people absorb information in a variety of ways. So involving comedy or drama into their video will grab people's attention. One of my good friends likes to make movies so I should let her know about this contest!
Question Answer
2) I do think that these videos will make a difference with the water shortage. Many people do not know about Earth's water shortage, so this will be a fun and creative way to inform everyone. I think that it is a great idea and will catch people's attention.
This is an interesting subject especially because we are approaching a water shortage right now due to the lack of rain. THis contest sounds like a good idea because people who are concerned about the water shortage can make a creative film and spread the message. They can even include ways in which people can conserve the water supply. Also, sometimes it is more effective to watch a video about an important topic rather then read about it. It sounds like it is a world wide issue and everyone should be interested in learning more.
ReplyDelete3. I think there are many creative ways to present information about the water shortage. Colorful posters describing what people can do to help the shortage could be hung around schools and public places where water is being used.
ReplyDeleteReaction: Wow i never knew that was an issue. I think that is a great idea to raise awarness and for some people to show off their talent.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 3: Maybe not only a film but a commercial contest then have that run on air and be heavy loaded with patho's.
Opinion/Reflection:
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cool way to inform people about our water situation, since most people, including myself, throw water around like they do not care. People need to realize that our water situation is crucial to our survival.
